Annual Exhibition 2010 - A huge success! ...the aftermath
|
AME would like to thank all the members for excelling in both their models and their input for the huge success the Annual Exhibition 2010 has made. Members exhibited over 530 models consisting of over 900 individual modelling items. The hall was immediately packed with visitors from the first day and the guest book shows and proves that people appreciate and consider our work as highly professional and very skilful. Comments have been left by both Maltese citizens and foreigners (Italy, UK, Australia, Ireland, Bulgaria). These will be uploaded soon. Thanks to the work of all the members, AME has now grown with almost another 50 new members which is such a significant number from a 7-day exhibition. The public showed a lot of interest and interacted a lot with the members whom were pleased with the interest shown by especially the prospective members. The standard of the exhibited models rose again from last year and several awards have been given to AME members for their professional works. These can also be seen on our website. These awards will be presented during the awards night this coming June. This increase in influx of new members has created the need for a new section for next year. This will not only host male members, but also a number of female members as well. Furthermore, AME has widened its international relationship and broadened its boundaries with new foreign members, from USA, the United Kingdom and also Bulgaria. AME has already active foreign members from UK and Germany. Organised school classes also visited the exhibition and created a lot of interest from young students who have seen and realised how this hobby can be interesting, educational and also relaxing. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Kenneth De Martino, Chief Scout Leader and has also been visited by foreign club members who came purposely for the AME's Annual Exhibition. We thank these visitors for their support and loyalty towards AME. The general public was very keen in seeing our new Trains Section with various working model trains and had also the opportunity to get their own private trains and test run them on the exhibited track. It was a pleasure for AME to provide this service and we had very good feedback. We thank the Trains Section members for their great work! The engineering section also had members from the general public getting their own private engineered models to share and discuss with our highly experienced and professional engineering modellers. The general public also showed a lot of interest through the internet, via our website, which had almost a thousand hits in just a week! This was not enough, people communicated with us through our Facebook group, and left very positive comments. We also had foreigners and Maltese citizens connecting to us through Skype and seeing the exhibition live on the internet through a webcam. The public has also shown a lot of interest in the videos we have uploaded on YouTube and which can be seen from the website links. These videos show the new Trains section with working trains, Mr. Paul Galea showing around the exhibition on Skype to foreign viewers over the internet through a webcam, and also a vast selection of fully functional engineering models. The general public contributed well and took part in our fund raising lottery in support of AME and the winner was drawn on Sunday evening at 7pm in the exhibition hall itself in the presence of the public, the members and the committee, the council members and the AME president, Mr Charles Spiteri. AME would like to thank again the general public for the support shown during their visits. The winner will be contacted by AME council members shortly. The general media, radio, TV and newspapers gave a lot of input to the AME and we thank them for their time and effort. AME took part in many programs (and is still taking part), both from TV studios and also from the exhibition hall itself. AME was also live on radio programmes via phone calls. AME would also like to thank the Scouts Association for providing us with such an ideal place for our annual exhibition and supporting us to the fullest! It is a pleasure for us to work hand-in-hand which such an Association. Last but not least AME also thanks the retail outlets for their support and input during the exhibition. AME also thanks the Local Council for its cooperation, and Bank of Valletta and Air Malta which are the main sponsors. We look forward in meeting our new members and sharing with them the ways and means of our interesting hobbies! See you at our meetings! AME |
