MODELLING COURSES

We are starting a number of basic modeling courses in the following sections:

Aircraft, cars, marine, basic scenery. Those members wishing to attend should register with the undersigned. Further details will be given during our meetings.

 

WOMENS CRAFT SECTION

The Council has decided to form a womens section in the Craft Section of AME. We already have a number of women interested to join. Please note and encourage those women whom you think will be interested in joining. Further details will be given during our meetings.

ANNUAL EXHIBITIONOur Annual Exhibition/Competitions will be held between 1st May and 9th May, 2010. Setting up of boards will start on Wednesday 28th from 4pm onwards. Thursday 29th is earmarked for the setting up of models. Members should bring in their models after 2 pm. Friday 30th is earmarked for Judging of models. Members are not allowed into the exhibition hall on this day. On Saturday 1st May the exhibition will open to the public and a reception will be held at 8pm. This year our Exhibition will be officially opened by Mr K. DeMartino, Scouts Island Commissioner. The closing date for submitting the competitions entry forms has been extended to 8th April. Members are requested to fill in the entry competitions form as soon as possible so that we will start from an early date putting up the caption cards of Competition Models. For the benefit of new members, Competition Rules will be available at our premises. Members having large models for exhibition/competitions are to inform the undersigned.

 

Members are to note that it is the policy of our Association not to take part in other exhibitions organized by other clubs/associations similar to ours without the prior approval of the Council of the Association of Model Engineers.

 

All AME members are to note that they do not have permission to take part in any exhibition at this point in time. 

Disciplinary action may be taken if this directive is ignored.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Model Engineers. This will be held of March 18th at 6pm.

 

ANNUAL EXHIBITION 2010

Competition Entry Forms will be available as from this month. It is advisable to register models for Competition at an early stage. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

The dates for this Exhibition and Competition are: 28th April - 9th May 2010.

 

Members attending the courses for modelling and computing should inform Charles Spiteri that they will be attending.

AWARDS DINNER

 

The Awards Dinner will be held on 28th November, 2009. This will be held at the Naxxar Parish Oratory. This is situated in front of Master Cellars in Naxxar near parish church. Parking space available in front of Hall. Genuine home cooking will be served.

 

The menu will consist of :

 

  Soup

  Pasta

  Main Course, one of:

          Fish, Meat, Chicken served with different kinds of salads.

  Desert

  Glass of Wine or Soft Drink

  Tea or Coffee

Please book early indicating your choice of fish, or meat or chicken.

Price: €17 adults. Children over 6: €7

The activity will start at 8.00pm. This is a once a year activity for our members to meet and enjoy themselves while being given the awards they deserve for the hard work they did.

 

 

 

AME COURSES :

 

As already announced AME will be holding the following two courses:

 

Modelling Course for Beginners” and “Basic Computer course for modelers”.

 

Those interested should register with Mr Charles Spiteri. As announced, these will be held on the same day as for our usual meetings but will start at 5.00pm. The number of members attending will decide whether these will be held

MODELING WORKSHOP - Thursday 18th June, 2009

 We are starting on something new. We will be holding special modeling and techniques meetings. Those interested should bring with them models and tools. We will work together during this meeting.  The session will start at 6.15pm and finish at 8.15pm.  All members interested should attend.

The Council would like to thank all members for a wonderful experience during our Annual Exhibition. Thanks goes to all those members who helped to set up and dismantle the exhibition. I am sure that without your help the exhibition would not have been the success that it was. We will meet at the Deaf Centre in Valletta.

SPONSORSHIP. We have managed to get a sponsorship from Air Malta towards our Annual Exhibition. This is apart from the sponsorship we already got from the Bank of Valletta. Air Malta has given us two flights to European countries. The sponsorship is in the form of a raffle to be organised during the exhibition. We will soon be distributing raffle tickets to all our members to help us sell as much as possible. Your help is needed.

Thanks to our sub-committee comprising of Mr Alan Camilleri, Mr Carl Mifsud and Mr Jim Rouse, we have made arrangements to start participating in Television Shows running up to our Exhibition. The first appearance will be on April 5th and the transmission will be from Gozo. This will be a whole day show starting from 10 am. Members interested to participate are to contact the undersigned as soon as possible. The more we participate the merrier. Help us promoted our Association and our Exhibition. It is useless moaning that the media did not attend. Help us to do a good job BEFORE the exhibition.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 26th  March 2009.

Members wishing to serve on the Committee should fill in the form and hand it in during AME meetings by 12th March 2009.

 

ANNUAL EXHIBITION/COMPETITIONS

As already announced our Annual Exhibition will be held  between the last week of April and the first week of May. Dates will be communicated later. Competition Entry Forms for the Annual Competitions will be received by 9th April. Members are reminded to pay their subscription fee for 2009. Members intending to take part in our Annual Competitions should pay their subscription fee by the end of February.

A huge success. Thanks to all AME members and ESPECIALLY to those members who offered their useful help, our 25th Anniversary Model Exhibition was a huge success.We also welcome those new members who joined us during the Exhibition.

EXHIBITION PHOTOS: Our PRO Council Member Mr Paul Galea is in need of photos during our Exhibition. Those members who have taken photos and are willing to help should contact Paul during our meetings.

AME will be participating in the competitions to be held by the CENTRO SICILIANO MODEL- LISMO STORICO in Catania. The dates are 6th, 7th and 8th December 2008. Those members wishing to take part should attend for this important meeting. Council Member in charge of this activity is Mr. Alex Vella. This activity is for AME members only.

AWARDS DINNER: The Awards Dinner will be held on 22nd November 2008 at the Corinthia Palace Hotel. Members wishing to attend should book as early as possible and by not  later than  15th November. Price is €20. Book with Council Member in Charge Mr Ramon Borg Tel: 21221217.

 

Annual Exhibition: 25th September to 5th October

Annual Exhibition - Competitions

The Competition Entry Forms are now available from our premises. Please note that for every model a form has to be submitted. Closing date is Thursday 11th September. No entries will be accepted after this date.

 

Subscription Fee

Members are reminded that those who do not pay their subscription fee by the end of March, 2008 will not be elligible for the Annual Competitions.

 

Annual General Meeting

The Association's Annual General meeting  will be held on Thursday 27th March 2008 with the following Agenda:

  • Reading of Annual Report.

  • Reading of Financial Report.

  • Appointment of Auditor.

  • Election of new Committee Members.

Note: This is a very important meeting and it is the duty of all members to attend and vote for the new Committee.

 

 

 

Outside Activity: Sunday 24th February

We will be visiting the CLASSIC CAR MUSEUM in Qawra. The museum is situated in Tourists Street in Qawra near the Bus Terminus. We will meet at 10.30am in front of the museum. Book with Mr. Ramon Borg.

 

 

 

Presentation of Awards Dinner

Obituary - SAVIOUR LIA - The mass for the repose of Saviour Lia will be held on December 1st at the Senglea parish church at 7:45am. Please note that members wishing to attend should check with Mr. Swain (tel 27826751) the day before.

 

 

 

Dismantling of Exhibition
 

Thanks to all members for their help and participation during our Annual Exhibition. It was definitely a huge success. Let us now look forward for the next one which we will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of our Association.

We also thank all members you gave us a helping hand - dismantling was done in a very organised and efficient manner, like the preparation. Well done!

 

 

 

Annual Exhibition preparation (before & after)

 

Members are reminded to prepare Caption Cards for models on Exhibit. Models for Competition will have their Caption Cards prepared by the Committee.

 

Setting up of Easels and Boards etc, will be held on Friday 7th September, from 9 am onwards. Members in charge are C. Spiteri and J. Lapira. All models (Exhibits and Competition) are to be brought to the Exhibition Hall on Friday 7th September after 12 noon. Judging will be held on Friday during the night. Results will be published on Saturday. A reception will be held on Saturday evening.

 

Dismantling of Exhibition/Collection of Models will be held on Sunday 16th September at 8pm. Help is also required at this time. Please do not be selfish. Help us dismantle and then take your models afterwards.

 

 

Bring AND Buy

As most members know by now, we have introduced a Bring and Buy. Members wishing to get rid of their unwanted kits should bring them along. Contact person Mr Anthony Carbonaro. A raffle is being organised every meeting using such models.

 

 

 

New Competition Rules

 

Members are to note that during this month (May 2007) we will be distributing the new Annual Competition Rules. Make sure you get a copy!

 

Membership

 

Members are reminded to pay their subscription for the year 2007.

 

 

 

New Committee

As notified in January 2007, our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for the 13
th April 2007. The Council is appealing to members to form part of the new committee. Five (5) members are needed for the committee. It is hoped that members will apply to form part of this committee. The committee usually meets once a month. Please give something back to AME.

 

AME Publications

AME has published the following information and modelling sheets:

  5. The Motor Car Goes to War (Parts 1 & 2)

These will be available during our meetings at a cost of Lm0.20 in order to cover printing and copying expenses.

 

Donations and Fund Raising

AME is a non-profit making, non-ideological association, and thus requires an additional effort from all members for the ongoing successful function of the association. Any type of donation, whether monetary or not (objects, services), will increase our potential to share our skills and be more proficient in our craftsmanship.

A Sub-Committee for Fund Raising has been formed. Member in Charge is Mr Tony Carbonaro. This Committee has started work on a series of aircraft photos taken in Malta. The first set comprising of 18 post-cards is now ready for sale at the price of Lm3. Other sets will be available in the future.

 This Committee has also taken in hand to produce a CD of our Exhibition. This will soon be ready for sale at Lm3.50. Members who had booked this CD can pick it up from Mr Carbonaro, when it is available.

 Various kits and modelling materials are also available. Contact Mr Carbonaro during our meetings.
